Do not neglect the assembly instructions

The first thing that you need to do is to check your owner’s manual. If you’re having trouble finding a manual, try to find the make and model of the treadmill at the back of the treadmill. Then look up the owner’s manual online for any safety key instructions that may be included with it. Also, look up online for any troubleshooting guidelines or warranty information. Next, you should turn off the power and all but one wheel so that you can safely remove it from its base.

Watch the wheels

In your new home, or if you’ve just moved into a new home, a few things might be missing. One item that you might want to consider removing your treadmill’s wheels. If your treadmill doesn’t have wheels and is mostly like a toy that you toss in the closet, then this might not be an issue. If your treadmill has wheels that are damaged, then you will have to purchase a new furniture dolly that can safely move the treadmill into a new home.

Unplug the treadmill

Another thing that you will want to make sure that you do is to unplug your treadmill when you reach your destination. Many people are unaware that there is a safety key on their treadmill that will automatically fold the machine into the smaller and easier folded position once unplugged.

Look in your manual or on the packaging for the safety key, or if you don’t have them, search online for instructions to unlock the safety key. Once you have unplugged your treadmill, you will be able to move it into the upright position without having to worry about undoing the folding mechanism on it.

Use a cart

It is important that you also have a dolly in place when you begin lifting heavy objects on a treadmill. It is common for people to try and lift too heavy of an object by themselves which could cause them injury. The best way to avoid this is to use a dolly while you are running on it and then transfer it once you have finished. The dolly will give you extra support as you lift and transfer heavier objects.

You can also use the dolly to move the treadmill between floors in a home. It is a quick and easy process to fold the dolly and place it on each individual floor. This will allow you to keep the treadmill stationary during heavy cleaning chores around the house. It will keep the unit out of the way so you don’t have to worry about moving it between floors or have to bend down and remove it from the stairwells.

Final Tips

Another helpful tip is to keep an eye on the safety key which is located directly under the fold on the treadmill. If it gets accidentally unplugged, you will need to find the safety key and plug it back in before you can try to fold it up again. It is quite difficult to find without looking under the fold where the wheels separate.

This is one of the most common causes of accidents when it comes to unplugging and plugging a treadmill unit. The safety key will prevent you from injuring yourself or others.

If your treadmill is in more than one room, there are a few different things you can do. In the bedroom, you can roll the treadmill into a smaller closet or use a special hanger to lift the unit up and place it against the wall in the master or guest bedroom. In the kitchen, there is usually a door at the top of the stairs that opens onto the kitchen.

Unscrewing the treadmill from its base in the hallway leading to the front porch is tricky so be sure to practice this method before attempting to climb up a set of stairs. After all, it is much safer to pull the treadmill out of the hallway instead of attempting to pry it out of a different room.
