How to start

To start learning how to disassemble a treadmill, you will need to take your time. Start by reading through the instructions and watch for any unclear information. Then, it is time to get to work. You will need to carefully follow each step to get your machine up and running again.

The most important thing that you need to know when learning how to disassemble a treadmill is where to start. Some people choose to assemble their treadmills on their own at first. However, this is usually a mistake. It is much better to let someone else do this job. The machines are large and potentially dangerous, so only do this if you are confident in your ability to do it safely.

Step 1. Frame

One important step in how to disassemble a treadmill machine is removing all parts from the lower frame. This will allow you to move the arms and other parts around easily. It can be difficult to do this without damaging any of the parts, so be sure to have someone assist you.

Step 2. Legs

Once all the parts are removed, you can then remove the legs. Start by removing the motor from the rear of the machine. The motor will not normally come off of the side of the machine. Take note that there may be small screws or metal pieces on the back of the machine. These pieces need to be removed to disassemble the entire treadmill.

The next thing that you will need to do is unscrew the wheels from the base of the treadmill. This can be a bit tricky as not all screws are the same. Some people like to leave the wheels attached to the frame while they disassemble the machine. If you simply cannot remove the wheels, then you will have a harder time removing the arms and any other parts that are attached to the frame.

Step 3. Arms

Once all the wheels are removed, you can then remove the arms from the bottom of the treadmill. After you have removed all the arms, you will now need to look at the deck which is the part that connects the outside of the machine to the inside.

Remove all the screws from this part. Once you have successfully completed the task of how to disassemble a treadmill, you should be able to remove the plastic sheet which protects the motor.

Step 4. Completion

Now, you can remove the belt from the treadmill. Remove the motor from the frame. You can either take it apart or cut it with a pair of utility scissors. Next, you will want to take the clamps that are located on both sides of the frame and loosen them. These clamps will keep the frame in place when you are taking it apart.

Once all the clamps are loosened, you will be able to remove the frame from the treadmill easily. You may want to mark where each arm and the deck intersect to make it easier to find where the screws are. Use a level to ensure that the floor is even across the frame. Take the arms out of the treadmill and discard them.

Conclusion

Once you have successfully completed the tasks of how to disassemble a treadmill, you will not have to ever reassemble the treadmill again. If you have trouble finding any replacement parts, you can find these replacement parts at your local fitness store. However, the parts that are available online are typically brand new and do not have any sort of warranty. These are the basic steps that you will need for taking apart a treadmill so that you can learn how to remove parts without killing yourself and wasting time and money.
